The Black Rose

A modern day thriller based in your everyday school that hides a mysterious secret that could destroy the very foundations of Grace Cullens world. A sinister plot unravels as she comes face to face with the school nightmare, the Black Rose. Will Grace be enticed by the scent of the rose or will she bleed from the thorns?
THE BLACK ROSE, FILM SYNOPSIS
A ghastly figure haunts the halls of Able Corks High and on a typical morning Grace Cullen heads to school but during free period, a bloodcurdling being catches her eye. Then off to biology, and a lecture of plants and their defence mechanisms. The classroom is in anarchy until Grace pops the subject about ghosts – the teacher answers her question, weaving a tale of horror and destruction. It was a hundred years to the day that a professor was found dead on the school grounds. He had killed two students and then took his own life after realising what he had done. And from that day forward it was always rumoured that he haunted the school, seeking redemption for his deeds. A black rose grew in the spot of the professors suicide, and the myth from then on was known as the ‘’Tragic Tale of the Black Rose’’.

Thoughts linger in her mind and when she meets the school heart throb, Miles, her life feels complete. But her paradise is short-lived and her world begins to crumble. Firstly her best friend is found dead – and then her sister. The tale of the black rose is living through her. But as the days pass by and the deaths pile up, havoc tears the school apart. Riots start and the school is abandoned and raging fires spread. Miles and Grace meet up, with a confession to be made. As they are alone, Grace’s fear kicks in and a realisation hits her as she discovers the real identity of the Black Rose. She flees the scene and a fight for her life takes place.

As she runs through the abandoned school, a storm brewing, she seeks a place for refuge but is ultimately tracked down by the Black Rose. She screams for help, but no prince in shining armour saves the damsel in distress. And as the fairy tale seems to have an unhappy ending, part of the school ceiling collapses, crushing the Black Rose, giving Grace the escape she needed until her emotions kick in and she turns back to save Miles. The pair kiss and Miles gives his last breath declaring his love for her, apologising for what he had done, leaving Grace stunned but relieved. The sun shines above the school and Grace sits on top of the rubble and a smile takes over her face. She did it. She survived.

If we pitch successfully and get a camera on Friday then we will film all scenes during week two, Monday to Friday.

MON P3, Kate films scenes 1 – 7
TUES P5, Sam and Kate film scenes 8-15
WED P4, Sam and Kate film scenes 16-22
FRI P3, Sam films anything that is either unfinished or unsatisfactory.

We will also need the dolly for the Monday and the tripod for the entire week.
